The spirit of service runs in the family Jeff Mitch, the grand nephew of Millvale Franciscan Sister Mary Zita Green, is an active teen in his home town of Butler, Pennsylvania. Whether he is co-coordinating a diocese-wide youth Love Walk to call attention to the plight of the poor or leading peer delegates in Youth and Government, Jeff is committed. Jeff was recently featured in the Butler Eagle newspaper for his election victory as governor of Youth and Government, an initiative of the YMCA and local high schools that allows teenagers to discuss current issues with state representatives and lawmakers. Jeff will be leading fellow delegates, improving recruitment and raising funding and awareness for the program, among other duties, beginning this fall. Last February, Jeff was also interviewed by the Pittsburgh Catholic newspaper for his work on the Love Walk for the Poor in which Catholic teens carried donated items approximately one mile from Sacred Heart in Pittsburgh's Shadyside neighborhood to the East End Cooperative Ministry.
