Ask Sister Kathy
Franciscan sisters are here to guide you along your journey
as a woman religious, but the first step is to contact us. We are here
to help, listen and answer any questions you have!
Keep
in mind that just because you are asking questions, it does not mean you
are making a commitment. However, we are here to help you discover your
life’s purpose, wherever it may lead you and you will have total
privacy and anonymity if you so wish.
JK from New York asks:
What do sisters do all day? Do they have time off?
Our sisters are involved in a variety of ministries, all of which have
somewhat regular hours and predictable demands. And, of course, the
ordinary tasks of living (cooking, household chores, etc.) are part
of our day.
Yes, we get "time off." Sisters, like all people, need to
maintain a healthy balance of prayer, work and recreation. Sisters have
time to visit with their families or friends. Being unique individuals,
sisters choose to engage in a variety of leisure time activities. Some
common choices include hobbies, attending sporting and cultural events,
movies, TV, reading, listening to music, or enjoying the outdoors.
If you have a question for Sister Kathy, please email her
and she will post your question and response in the "Ask
Sister Kathy" section of our Web site.
